The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County will expand its hours and remain open to the public on several Thursday evenings during July and August, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with various programs offered at 6:30 PM each week. Admission for each event is $3 members, $5 non-members, students free.
The second program is Theodor Herzl and Sun Yat-sen: Parallel Nationalisms, a PowerPoint presentation by Professor Andrew Meyer, on July 20. Andrew Meyer, Professor of History at Brooklyn College, the City University of New York, earned his doctorate in East Asian Languages and Civilization at Harvard University. He is the author of The Dao of the Military: Liu An's Art of War, and many articles about early Chinese intellectual history, most recently "Reading Sunzi as a Master" in the latest issue of Asia Major. He will be speaking about the parallels between the work of Theodor Herzl (1860-1904), a founding father of Zionism, and Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925), a founder of the modern Chinese Republic.
