Dr. Dov Waxman: Liberal American Jews and Israel: A Growing Rift

There is widespread concern within the American Jewish community that Israel is losing the support of liberal and progressive American Jews, especially younger ones. Dov Waxman, author of Trouble in the Tribe: The American Jewish Conflict over Israel, will analyze the growing rift between liberal American Jews and Israel. He will discuss the changing attitudes of American Jews towards Israel and the current trends that are pushing many liberal and progressive American Jews away from Israel. He will also address what the growing rift between liberal American Jews and Israel means for both the future of the American Jewish community and Israel.

Dr. Waxman is the Director of the UCLA Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies. He is a Professor of Political Science and The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation Chair of Israel Studies at UCLA. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. degrees from John Hopkins University and his B.A. from Oxford University. He has written 4 books and his writing has also been published in the NY Times, The Washington Post, The LA Times and The Atlantic.
