Dr. Jonathan Milgram, associate professof of Talmud and Rabbinics at The Jewish Theological Seminary will be the Scholar-in-Residence at this annual Shabbton honoring the memory of Dr. Julius and Ethel Mintz z"l.

Dr. Milgram will speak Friday night after dinner (around 8 PM): "How God's Law Changes: The Transformation of Inheritance Practices from the Bible to the Mishnah." There is no fee or registration needed for the lecture. RSVP to the Temple if you would like to join the Shabbat dinner (there is a fee for the dinner.)

During Shabbat morning services Dr. Milgram will speak on "Lessons to Learn from Sarah our Matriarch." Following a light Kiddush lunch there will be Mishna text study with Dr. Milgram, focusing on "Daughter's Inheritance." During Seudah Shlisheet Dr. Migram will speak on "The Purchase of the Cave of Machpela: Insights from Ancient Near Eastern Law."

Dr. Milgram is the author of "From Mesopotamia to the Mishnah: Tannaitic Inheritance Law in its Legal and Social Context."
