Much of traditional Jewish practice is centered on the rules and practices that affect every aspect of life, Halakhah. Why? A legalistic framework hardly seems to be sufficient for the spiritual intentions that lie at the heart of Judaism. But laws do more than regulate behavior. When practiced, especially as a community, they open up the potential for a spiritual connection to others. They are a gateway to the divine. During this Shabbat service, we will explore this spiritual aspect to Jewish law through Jewish meditation including guided visualization, mantra meditation, and chanting. During the Oneg following the service, an informal discussion will be held for those who want to explore this theme in more detail.
