On Sunday, April 16, at 11 AM, Congregation B’nai Israel of Rumson is proud to host Andrew Nagorski, whose non-fiction book, Saving Freud, was recently published by Simon & Schuster. The dramatic account of Freud’s last-minute rescue from Nazi-occupied Austria, has gotten outstanding reviews and was praised as “a riveting page-turner.” (See attached flyer for sample reviews, book jacket and author photos.)
This is a story that transcends religion and nationalism. Freud’s rescue team was international - a Greek princess, an American ambassador, a Welsh psychologist, and surprisingly even a Nazi admirer. Their joint efforts to bring Freud and his family to freedom create a suspenseful narrative that demonstrates the power of respect and friendship to triumph over brutality and evil.
