On Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020 at 11:00 am, the Neve Shalom Adult Education Committee
and the Gilbert and Claudie Hayat Speaker Series invite you to learn with Dr. Michal Raucher. Dr. Raucher is a Jewish history professor at Rutgers University. She will be speaking about Tapping on the Stained-Glass Ceiling: Orthodox Women Rabbis. Michal Raucher has a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Northwestern University, a master’s degree in bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania, and two bachelor degrees; one in Hebrew Bible from the Jewish Theological Seminary and the other in Religion from Columbia University. She joined Rutgers University, Department of Jewish Studies in Fall 2018. Her research lies at the intersection of Israel studies, Jewish ethics, and the anthropology of women in Judaism.
Professor Raucher’s second book “Tapping on the Stained Glass Ceiling: the Ordination of Orthodox Jewish Women in Israel and America” surrounds the recent ordination of women in Orthodoxy, comparing the phenomenon in Israel and America
