The story encompasses his birth into a theater family in 1895, the ups and downs and major influences of his career and ends with his death in 1960 at his beloved home Highland Farm in Pennsylvania; this is where the Rodgers and Hammerstein partnership was formed, where he did most of his lyric writing and where he mentored high school student, Stephen Sondheim. Erin Alcorn and Marc Sherman will treat us to many favorite tunes with lyrics written by Hammerstein. Erin Alcorn, a lyric soprano who has a broad repertoire, earned her bachelor's degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a master's degree from the University of North Texas.
Marc Sherman, pianist and vocalist for the past 50 years, earned a degree in Music Education from Temple University, graduating first in his class. He taught music in the Philadelphia School District for 35 years and performs at a wide variety of special events.
