This is a free Zoom event with Katherine Stewart, author of "The Power Worshippers,", who will discuss the rising threat of today's Religious Right. This is a political movement that seeks to replace our foundational democratic principles and institutions with a state grounded on particular "approved " versions of religion, answering to what some adherents call a "biblical worldview."
The movement has already succeeded in the takeover our Supreme Court; it has degraded our politics and is dividing the nation with religious animus. Stewart will pull back the curtain on the movement's inner workings and leading personalities, exposing a dense network of think tanks, advocacy groups, data operations and faith-based organizations embedded in a rapidly expanding community of international alliances. This isn't a culture war.
It is a political war over the future of democracy.
