Friday Light : A little more light for all of us

Dear Federation Friends and Supporters,

A little bit of light pushes away a lot of darkness. Jewish Proverb

At Jewish Federation, you could say pain is our business -- mitigating suffering of people in need; securing our community against hate, fighting social injustice...

But we at Jewish Federation say joy is our business. We offer and expand uplifting ways to include all in the the rich culture and community that make Jewish life sweet...We inspire young people to embrace and celebrate Jewish life for generations to come...

This week we shine a little more FRIDAY LIGHT on arts and culture that elevate the Jewish experience, children loving Jewish songs and story-telling, and selfless deeds of volunteers.

Candle lighting is at 8:10 tonight. Whether you light candles or not, perhaps you will find meaning in the words of modern-day sage and songwriter, Leonard Cohen, from Anthem:

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in
.

Shabbat Shalom,
Susan Antman, Executive Director
