The Jewish Federation Provides Security Workshop to Community

The Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey recently organized a security workshop. It was attended by 60+ people representing more than 30 Jewish institutions based in Monmouth and Greater Middlesex counties. It was hosted by Monmouth County Sherriff Shaun Golden and Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni at the Public Safety Center in Freehold. The evening’s featured presentation, Active Shooter Survival Strategies, was conducted by FBI Special Agent Jin Kim, a twenty year veteran of the New York Division. His presentation focused on how individuals should react in active shooter scenarios with a focus on individual survival.

“I thought this exercise facilitated by Agent Jin Kim was one of, if not the, best I have attended,” said Mark Genetempo, director of training and outreach at Secure Community Network (SCN). “I have participated in many other active shooter drills and response trainings that were 3 times as long that didn’t convey a half as much practical, realistic information and solutions as this one did.”

Special Agent Kim was exceptional and delivered his presentation with great passion and sincerity emphasizing preparedness and ensuring that each of us share the info provided with our loved ones for their own protection. Another program is scheduled to take place in Middlesex early next year.

“I’m proud to have hosted this event for our partners of the Jewish community,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden. “It’s vital that all of our residents be aware of contemporary situations involving harmful activities by individuals or groups that may target segments of our population. That’s why it’s important religious leaders learn about issues such as active shooter scenarios to help ensure the safety of their organizations.”
