Rumson Jewish Center @CBI proudly presents award-winning singer, actress and author Eleanor Reissa in Cabaret. Her funny, touching song-filled program will be connected to revelations from her recent book, The Letters Project: A Daughter’s Journey, which depicts her discovery of a trove of letters that illuminated her Jewish parents’ history in Europe during World War II.
Besides singing in English, Reissa is fluent in Yiddish. Her singing and performances have earned her the title “Reigning Queen of Yiddish Cabaret.” A former artistic director of the National Yiddish Theatre, she has acted in numerous Broadway productions and on television, and was nominated for both Tony and Drama Desk awards. An accomplished playwright, Reissa received the Dorothy Silver Playwriting Award, and her plays have been published in an anthology entitled The Last Survivor and other Modern Yiddish Plays. Eleanor Reissa In Cabaret promises to be a warm joyous touching musical and literary experience.
Our Cabaret evening will feature a wine-tasting, along with a selection of cheeses and desserts. The services of a sommelier and various European wines will be donated by a member of the Cultural Programming Committee, which is sponsoring the event. We are grateful to the Second Century Fund for subsidizing this unique program.
Join us for an evening of art and history as we celebrate a dramatic tribute to hope and survival with chanteuse Eleanor Reissa!
Admission for members: $25. Admission for non-members: $36
