The Kosher Meals on Wheels program regularly helps seniors who have ongoing impairments and limitations, but recently, it helped 84-year-old, Arlene, and her 95-year-old husband who is cognitively impaired, get through an emergency. 

The couple live in an historic apartment building that flooded during one of 2021’s extreme storms. Their kitchen was virtually destroyed. They were unable to use their appliances and faced months of repairs. 

Arlene had limited ability to go out and get prepared food because she is her husband’s sole caregiver. 

She reached out for Kosher Meals on Wheels (KMOW).

When our community's family service agency enrolled the couple in KMOW, Arlene and her husband were pleased with the convenience and quality of the meals.

Several months later, Arlene called, cheerfully reporting that their kitchen is restored and they no longer need the meals. She expressed their gratitude for how helpful KMOW had been during this trying time.
